The Ekurhuleni Jewellery Project (EJP) is a Section 21 NPO (Non Profit Organisation) company incorporated under Section 21 of the Companies Act (registration number: 2008/01734/08) . EJP was officially launched in 2009 as a training and business incubation Centre. An initiative initially supported by Rand Refinery as its Corporate Social Responsibility / Investment to address the socio economic issues in and around Ekurhuleni. Ekurhuleni Jewellery Project is funded by Rand Refinery and SEDA Technology Program (STP) through the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and supported by The Jewellery Council of South Africa and Gauteng Growth and Development Agency.
The core business of Ekurhuleni Jewellery Project is to cater for industry based training skills programmes and the development of Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) for commercial sustainability and success. Transferring technology, access to minerals and providing an enabling environment to the emerging jewellers.

Through the provision of excellent training and business incubation, EJP will be the incubator of choice in providing an enabling environment for emerging jewellers and creating skilled, sustainable jobs within newly established businesses

By training and providing access to systems and equipment that encourage mass manufacturing of jewellery, EJP will give emerging SMME jewellers the opportunity to add value to South Africa’s mineral resources and meet the market needs of a growing local and international market.
